This year
marks the Thirty-Fifth year anniversary of the ministry of Calvary
Baptist Church. Over the years I have had the joy of sharing
in so many blessing of this work of God.
The church is
planning a great celebration later in the year. In leading to
that great day of remembrance, reflection and vision a Revival
meeting was scheduled and I was asked to preach.
I am always
thrilled to preach here and see what the Lord has done and is doing
in the lives of His people and the ministries of this church.
Friday night was Youth
Night
Young people from churches all
over Rhode Island came to enjoy the preaching, singing and
fellowship of this special time. Armed with Bibles, Music
and enthusiasm, the filled the church.
The Lord spoke and scores heard and responded as the Holy Spirit
moved upon them. Souls were saved and talents were dedicated to
God. Some not walking with the Lord returned to the joy of
restored fellowship.

Nothing can uplift the heart as much as when young people sing
to the Glory of God. |

As has been my custom I was once more at Calvary Baptist
Church in Middletown RI. I just never tire of being in this
great church and preaching to hearts that are hungry for the Word of
the Lord.
Over the years a small tradition has prevailed.
When I walk to the pulpit there is ALWAYS bags of Reeses
Pieces on the pulpit. I won't go into how that got started but
I am glad it has not stopped. I could not even
begin to count the amount of Reeses Pieces I have received.
Having been blessed with such great abundance Mrs. Souza and I have
found there are more things you can do than just eat them from a
bowl. One thing we do is to make Reeses Pieces cookies.
This year the Lord seemed to say it was my turn to do something for
these generous and thoughtful people.
So we spent an evening making and baking two hundred
cookies and placing them in individual plastic bags for all
the adults and children in attendance. They all went and no
one got sick. OH for those in my Sunday School class I again
apologize for the the "cookie" illustration. But many of you
told me it really drove the point home.
The ladies did a great job in presenting the special music for the
morning service.
Revival Meeting

This poster of
Billy Sunday was a consent reminder that
"Somebody has to get on
the Firing Line for God"
How sad to think that New
England, the birth place of Christianity in America in now reported to be
the least religious area of the country.

Well, Calvary Baptist Church in
Middletown, Rhode Island is doing its best to change all that. In
the smallest state of the Union this church is reaching out with the
Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. An active soul-winning and
visitation program is getting the Word out.
There was good attendance for all the services and an excellent response
to the preaching of the Gospel and "instruction in righteousness"

Special
March Soul-Winning
For several weeks Pastor Tucker
has been holding Saturday morning soul-winning classes. He asked
if I would come and close out series of this vital church program.
My wife and I were delighted to see a very good number of folks
attending the sessions. There was a wide range of ages. Men,
Women, Young Men and Young Women eagerly took notes and exchanged
questions during the sessions.

On Sunday morning the Pastor had
special awards for those who faithfully attended the soul-winning
sessions.

Each was honored with a Christian Workers New Testament and a
Certificate of Achievement for the lessons learned and Scripture
memorization.
The Sunday Services were a
blessing. There were many first time visitors in the
services along with the faithful of God's people. Many
hearts were touched. A great anticipation of the on going
soul-winning efforts of the past weeks training was very evident.

Again and Again the music was uplifting, Spirit filled and
blessed by the Lord |

The
December Meeting
Each year on the first Sunday in December, I am
at the Calvary Baptist Church in Middletown RI. I have been
doing this now going on 25 years. We have seen the Lord work
greatly over the years in this good church. Souls saved,
lives transformed and young people called into the Gospel ministry
are but some of the fruits of this church

It was in the basement of this house (located
next to the church) I first preached here. I was one of the
few who didn't have to preach ducking the beams overhead. As
the Lord blessed, a new building was erected and expanded to
accommodate those who are attending the services.

The church has doubled the auditorium over the
years and added a full fellowship and school wing.
The Lord has led Brother Scott Tucker and his
family to this fine church to carry on the work of the Gospel
ministry.
It is a joy to work with this man of faith,
vision and zeal. He stands true to the Word of God and has the
high standards demanded of Scripture for a man of God in the
ministry.
Thank the Lord for willing servants to work the
fields white unto harvest.
I taught the Adult Sunday School
class and preached the Morning and Evening services. As has been
my custom over the years, I took a few minutes to honor the Men and
Women and their families who are part of the United States military.
Being so close to Pearl Harbor Day it was fitting and proper to show
respect to those for who defend our freedom and liberties both in the
past and present time.
It is always
awesome to see the power of the Lord through the
preaching of His Word. So many hearts and lives were touched in so
many ways. I often stand amazed how the simple preaching of the
cross melts hearts for salvation, dedication and restoration. As
Paul told Timothy "the
Word of God is not bound". 2Ti 2:9

Without exception the
music at Calvary always reaches the heart.

A young man in the
service of our country had received Christ as his personal
Savior. Growing in the Lord he desired to follow the
Lord's
teaching in Biblical Baptism. His testimony rang true to a
genuine conversion to Jesus Christ.

For as long as I
remember young people have always been active in the ministry of
this Baptist Church.

Over the years I have see them grow up into adulthood.
Some are on the foreign mission field, some in ministries here
in America and some now involved in the this church in which
they grew up.

The Christian Academy is fulfilling the teaching
of the Scripture to train up a child in the way of the Lord.
The teachers and workers in the Academy are
dedicated, hard working and faithful to the Word of God. I
have known them for a number of years and their dedication has only
grown stronger over time.
