Lighthouse Baptist ChurchWaterbury, ConnecticutPastor Gil TartaglinoLighthouse Baptist Church is my home church. It is where my family attends and where my tithe and our faith promise missions giving is placed. I am their ministry and under the full authority of the church. Special Fill in SundaysMy pastor, Gil Tartaglino, asked me to take the pulpit on two Sundays while he was away. I am always glad to preach at "home" and be with family and friends. I met new families who have joined the church since my last meeting here, indicating God's blessing on this work in the city of Waterbury. Of course the fellowship among the faithful was appreciated as well. A new baptistery has been installed and ready for those waiting to be identified in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Several have made that decision. Praise the Lord. At each invitation the call of the Holy Spirit was heard. Broken and saddened hearts found renewed joy as the Word of God met their need. Others found the forgiveness of God and assurance of salvation. There was also a new appreciation for salvation leading to a termination to stay true to the Christian life. The scheduled six day revival meeting ended up being extended over twelve days. The first service began four days early and the last
service ended two days later than planned. On the Wednesday before the
scheduled Sunday start I preached and the Lord just seemed to pour out His
Spirit as a prelude to what he would do each night of the meetings. Scores
of God's people filled
The Testimony MeetingNight after night, service after service God poured out His rich blessing. It was not unusual to see folks coming to the altar even before the invitation was given. No congregational singing and at times no music, just the call of the Holy Spirit drawing souls and hearts to Him. Each and every service was special and in each and every service the altar was overflowing into the isles. Tears of repentance mingled with tears of joy. Folks were not ashamed to let others know their hearts were touched by the breath of God At the last service, on the second Sunday, a great testimony meeting was held. Folks lined up to give glory to God for His healing of broken hearts and mending of lives. The testimonies were not cold or run of the mill type variety, but rather were characterized by choked up voices, trembling hands and tear filled eyes. It was incredible. One after another, folks came to the platform, stood behind the microphone and told of the Lord's working. Some gave testimony of saving grace, some told how the Lord melted a hard and cold heart. Others gave witness of forgiveness and restoration. Some pleaded for prayer of special needs and brothers and sisters took them aside to help lift a heavy burden. With great humility some asked families for forgiveness. Tears flowed freely and unashamedly. Such was the moving of the Holy Ghost, the whole service lasted three and a half hours most if it being the testimony of God's people.
On Sunday, the "official" start of the meeting, a quartette from Ambassador Baptist College was present and ministered in song during the Sunday School hour and Morning service.
Youth RallyAn area wide youth rally was held on Saturday with several other Baptist Churches participating. Many young people came for a day of games, fellowship and preaching. Bowling, skits, wally ball and pizza were enjoyed throughout the day. But preaching was in the center of it all. Scores of young people gave heed to the Word of God. Some were saved, others dedicated or re-dedicated their life to the Lord.
