The Community Baptist Church of Garfield is an independent Baptist church located in Bergen county New Jersey, just east of New York City. The church is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Northern New Jersey/NYC area.

Update

I was thrilled to be back at this great church. Always being in New Jersey is special for me. My first church was in the Garden State and in the same county as Community Baptist Church.

This time, Faith was able to be with me and she saw first hand the love, the zeal and the joy of the Lord among the believers here. Pastor Janke and the church were so sweet to her. They gave her some roses and two gift cards. Pastor Janke said it was in appreciation for sharing me with others so many times. I was so moved by this gesture of love. Later they also gave me a gift card. I came to pay a debt of love I owe and found myself a greater debtor now.

The choir did an outstanding job in both the type of music and the depth of the content of the songs. You can tell they love to sing of the love and grace of the Lord. It's harder and harder today to find good gospel music sung in a Godly way. But here we had the best of it all.

But the best part was that I got to PREACH. The Lord gave liberty and the altar at the invitation was quickly filled in both the morning and evening services. I met new folks and saw the fruit of past meetings remaining faithful.

I was privileged to sit in on a really great Sunday School Class. They just began a study in the Gospel of Matthew and Brother Derek did one fantastic lesson as an introduction to the study.

I mean it was Bible College level material. He covered the 400 silent years between the Old and New Testament, gave some very interesting facts about the book and it's unique place in the synoptic Gospels and some excellent key passages and verses. What a great lesson. All in one hour!

The Brothers and Sisters you see here are those who go the local Nursing Home for services.

They are a special special people. True missionaries and evangelists who bring the Gospel to an often forgotten people. With so much to do and a very busy church life these folks, in the love and compassion of Jesus still give their time and efforts to those on the brink of eternity.

I honor them, but more importantly great is their reward in Heaven and great is their joy in service now.

This was my first time at the church but I felt right at home with the good spirit of folks who love singing the old time Gospel songs and solid Bible preaching. The revival meeting started on Fathers Day with all the Fathers being recognized and honored.

The Lord moved in so many ways. The attendance was excellent each night with a very great response to the calling of the Holy Spirit at the invitation time.

Souls were saved, lives touched and the waters of baptism were stirred. Since the church is in the process of installing an indoor baptistery an out door baptism was held in a pool behind the church.
