Galilean Baptist Church

Stafford Springs, Connecticut

Pastor Edward Jesanis

Conference on

Personal Holiness

The theme for the meeting  was from 1 Peter 1:15-16

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

The church set aside a week to reflect on God's command for holiness among His people.  Throughout the week different preachers spoke on this most important and forgotten subject.  Among those who preached were:

Pastor Jim Townsley - Central Baptist Church
Pastor Norm Aabye - River Valley Baptist Church
Pastor Jerry Cleveland - Pioneer Valley Baptist Church
Pastor David Bergen - Calvary Baptist Church
and myself who preached the Sunday and closing services.

One of the special music presentations was by
Pastor Jesanis and his son Jonathan.

While holiness starts with the individual it also extends to the home and family.  I am always glad to see young people exposed to the teaching of God's Word and see them express joy in being in the house of the Lord.

Several Missionary Letters were read telling us of the Lord's blessing on His work throughout the world.  True holiness demands that souls be reached for Christ.  Only through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ can the unholy be made holy.

The Mission board tells the story.  Over twenty missionaries are prayed for and supported.

Special Stewardship Sunday

Pastor Jesanis asked to come for a special Sunday devoted to the Biblical teaching of stewardship in the life of the believer. As this church grows, the pastor recognized the need of his people to be instructed in God's plan for their life.  Time, talent and money are things God has entrusted to us for use in His work of the ministry in the local church.

Seems each time I visit this work there are new faces, plans and programs.  The church is finishing up it latest building project.  Yet another building has been erected on the property for the ministryThe Word of God spoke to hearts and many acknowledged the ownership of the Lord in all they possess.

Brother Kevin Thompson has joined the pastoral staff and is actively working with the young people and various church ministries.  He also produces an internet radio broadcast:  www.delveintothedepths.com.

25th Church Anniversary Service

Established June 10,1978

Twenty five years ago on June 10, 1978,  Brother Bernard Whitney and his dear wife Peg came to this New England community to establish the Galilean Baptist Church of Stafford Springs.

I remember being at the first service meeting in a transformed barber shop down town.  Soon after that the church acquired the adjacent building as the needs for Sunday School and church grew.

The ministry was seeing souls saved and families growing in the things of the Lord.  With faith and vision the church purchased several acres of land on which the present ministry is located.  The last revival I preached here the church paid all debt and burned the mortgage.

This is the same pulpit the church had at it first service.  The same Gospel message of salvation by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ has not changed.  In days of change, compromise and weak preaching this pulpit still burns in power of the Word of God.

Tuesday marked the day the church was born and it was only fitting Brother Whitney preach the anniversary message.  It was a powerful message from the prophets warning God's people to heed His Word.

Pastor Jesanis and the congregation presented the Whitney's with gifts in grateful appreciation for the many years of their hard physical labor and faithful spiritual leadership.

Seven years ago Brother Whitney felt God's call on him to the work of an Evangelist and has worked around the country with Amazing Grace Baptist Missions.  Thousands have been saved at the fairs where they set up a booth and win souls.   Those saved are then directed to a local Independent Fundamental Baptist Church.

The choir did a wonderful job singing soul stirring songs

Evangelist Randy Davis, who is also a long time standing friend of Galilean Baptist Church preach Monday night.

His message reminded us to keep the old paths of God and re-dig the old wells of the Lord.

These two young men, Jeremy and Russ are working with the church this summer helping and learning things of the ministry.  They were a special blessing to me as I saw their hunger for the work of the Lord.  They have a real servants heart with a humble and meek spirit.  I believe the Lord will use them in a great way.

The ministry of the church reaches out in the realm of the bus ministry.
