Summer  Camp 2006

Pastor Keith Main

This year marks my 28th year in camp ministry along with revival and evangelistic meetings in churches.  I have preached at Galilean Baptist Camp probably more than any other camp.  I so enjoy seeing how the Lord uses camp to touch lives of young people.  This year was a combined camp of Junior and Seniors.

This year marked a new leadership at the camp as well as the church.  Brother Keith Main was called by the church to be their new pastor.  He did an excellent "on the job" training.

Young people from Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire came for camp week.  The Lord blessed.

In all many were saved and gave full and public testimony of a conversion to Christ.  Several young men surrendered to specific full time Christian service and  young ladies gave testimony of surrender for the Lord's work.  So many others testified of being touched my God in the services and activates of the camp program.

I am sure there will always be some criticism of working with young people.  I hear it all the time ..  It won't last .. it cost too much.. it's too much work ... etc    On the last morning of the camp a good number of campers stood to tell what the Lord has done for them.   Those saved told of salvation, those called to preach and mission work told of God's calling on them and many others just told how sin was cleansed from their life.  I have already heard from many that have not gone back to the old life, the old music, the old dress styles and the old habits.  It will take more the empty and shallow voices of unjust criticisms to stop me from believing in camp work and young people.

At the last camp, two years ago, it wasn't planned ..it just happened.  After I gave the first invitation young people began to go to this wall .. facing it .. and began seeking God.  We did not have an altar but this became a "Prayer Wall".  It is stained with tears, and various smudges as young people made petition before the Lord.  Jerusalem may have its Wailing Wall but we had a Prayer Wall of broken hearts and victorious battles.  This year the "Wall" was again the place of contact with God.  I am always amazed how such a simple thing can be used by God.

One of the hall marks of this camp is the "Fire".  From the first day to the last day the fire never goes out and is a place of gathering for the campers.  Fellowship, Bible study and prayer can be seen throughout the camp week at the FIRE

Pastor Main led the singing each night and gave a very powerful and pointed message at the Thursday night chapel service.

Each camp has some competition among the campers.  It's not all athletic events but also good character awards and Bible verse memorization.  The young lady on the left won the award for the most Bible verses memorized.  The award was a new Bible.

Upon receiving the award she immediately went to her new found camp friend and gave her the Bible.  Her statement was "I wanted to win the Bible so I could give it to my friend who did not have one"

Needless to say many eyes were flooded with tears at such a loving display of Christ likeness.

Hey campers!  Remember these pictures?
